Impacto psicológico de la infertilidad en pacientes que realizan un tratamiento de reproducción asistida

Afrontar un diagnóstico de infertilidad y su consiguiente tratamiento genera un impacto emocional y la elaboración de un proceso de duelo. Este estudio tiene como objetivo contribuir al conocimiento sobre la experiencia de las personas que se someten a tratamientos de reproducción asistida. Se llevó a cabo un estudio correlacional y transversal con una muestra de 105 personas (48 hombres y 57 mujeres) para determinar las diferencias en el desajuste emocional, los recursos adaptativos personales e interpersonales según el género y el tipo de infertilidad, y para identificar las relaciones entre el desajuste emocional, los recursos y las relaciones con la pareja. También se analizó la relación entre la construcción de sentido y el desajuste emocional según el género y el tipo de infertilidad. Los resultados muestran que las mujeres tienen niveles más altos de desajuste emocional que los hombres, mientras que los hombres muestran más recursos que las mujeres. Además, se encontraron relaciones significativas negativas entre el desajuste emocional y las relaciones con la pareja, y entre la construcción de sentido y el desajuste emocional. Los resultados aportan indicadores protectores y de riesgo que deberían contemplarse en las intervenciones psicológicas y añadimos una variable a considerar: el sentido.
