Keywords:
Sports, Disability, Sleep quality, Quality of life, performance, physical deficiencyAbstract
Quality of life is a multidimensional concept that encompasses the satisfaction of a person and his or her life, which currently has been related to the perception of sleep quality, where both are affected when a deficiency is present. The aim of the study was to identify the impact of sleep quality deficiency on the quality of life in relation to health in Paralympic athletes from Valle del Cauca. A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out with the aim of identifying the impact of sleep quality perception on the quality of life in relation to health in Paralympic athletes from Valle del Cauca. Sleep deficiency has a negative impact on health-related quality of life in the domains of physical health (p=0.01) and social relations (p=0.047), with no impact on the domains of environment and psychological state. The overall quality of life was not impacted by the perception of sleep, however, when analyzing by domain, it was, evidencing the focus on the importance of the quality of sleep in training.
