Validation of the scale of negotiation strategies on the use of condoms in men

The purpose of this research was to design and validate a scale of negotiation strategies on condom use. We worked with 1,180 men who go to a specialized clinic for HIV care, either for treatment or for a screening test. With the scale, the content validity was carried out through three expert judges in sexual health and based on the V of Aiken, the items with values higher than .8 were included, with this new version the construct validity was obtained. The participants were divided into two subsamples, with the first the EFA and with the second the CFA, in the first analysis three factors were obtained with a total variance of 0.65, in the second analysis the model was properly adjusted in the three proposed factors; In addition, convergent validity was found between the scale and consistency in condom use. Finally, the reliability analysis is presented through the alpha and omega coefficients, in both cases with values between .78 and 0.83 in each factor. The scale has good psychometric properties and can be used in the evaluation of men.
