Participación paterna en el embarazo y el nacimiento. Efectos en el contacto del padre con su hijo recién nacido durante la internación hospitalaria
Keywords:

The present study has the objective of knowing if the paternal involment developed during pregnancy and at birth have an impact on the level of contact that fathers display with their newborn children in the context of hospitalization. The sample consisted of 20 fathers whose children were newborns and were interned in a public hospital in Greater Buenos Aires. An interview was administered to the fathers and an observation scale of the paternal contact at the time they visited their children. The results show that the level of participation that the father displays in the prenatal stage has an incidence in the first approaches to his baby, while his presence at birth would not have such repercution in it. There is a new model of paternity willing to be emotionally involved and participate in the prenatal and birth stage. However, in Argentina, labor conditions and public hospitals hinder their desired inclusion.
