Abstract

En México, la violencia a las personas de la tercera y cuarta edad es un fenómeno en crecimiento que puede entenderse desde la noción de estigma. El estigma es un mecanismo que repercute de manera negativa en la forma cómo las personas de la tercera y cuarta edad son percibidas y tratadas en sociedad. De hecho, el estigma es una de las principales variables en el análisis del abandono familiar de esa comunidad.
